A NEW BRAND, A NEW VISION

Updated: Jan 24

Team sports can transform lives and improve the community spirit by offering young people the chance to belong to a team, grow together, and participate in something larger than themselves with a shared vision and goal. Grassroots sports are at the heart of every community.

When Perago reached out to support the West Wales Women and Girls League, which we are now delighted to call the Perago West Wales Women & Girls League, we didn’t just see this as a chance to welcome a new sponsor; we saw it as a fantastic opportunity to create a positive impact together.

Creating a brand

The Perago WWWGL has a proud history of community involvement and support for the sport. However, we realised that to attract the next generations of players, we needed a fresh, modern identity. Times have changed, and so have trends and visual cues. From the beginning, our vision was to create a vibrant brand and a captivating digital presence that would spark enthusiasm for women’s football in West Wales, inspire a new generation of players, and uplift the league to exciting new heights.

It was clear to Perago and us that we needed to capture a visual representation reflecting the spirit of League’s players, past and future. We agreed to create a distinct, dynamic, and appealing brand to attract new players and fans.

Opening the doors for more women and girls in football

Our League has a profound mission: to make competitive football accessible and attractive to women and girls in West Wales, particularly those aged 7 to 15.

When the team at Perago shared their vision with us, we immediately knew that their role wasn’t simply to provide a logo – they wanted to help grow the league. To inspire players. To help attract fans and support. We shared a bigger ambition: to change perceptions of women’s football. To show that women’s football is just as exciting, valuable, and deserving of attention as the men’s game.

Researching what the league means

Perago began the brand journey through research. Their goal was to understand and capture the League's essence, including its community, values, and aspirations. They dedicated time to listening to league organisers, understanding the involved individuals, and uncovering the league's true identity. Throughout this process, they identified a community-centric league centred on competition, inclusion, and growth – values we agreed needed to be incorporated into the new branding.

Through close collaboration, we developed a visual identity that wasn’t just about looks but about authenticity. The new design would need to reflect the unique culture and diverse geography of West Wales while also appealing to a younger, dynamic audience. It had to feel energetic, modern, and inspirational, representing the league's spirit and encouraging more girls to get involved.

The result

The results of this sponsorship and collaboration have brought so much joy and fulfilment. The new brand for the Perago West Wales Women & Girls League has received a fantastic reception and excitement from everyone. According to Helena Goatley, the league secretary:

"We can’t thank Perago enough for all the work and support on this project. We can’t emphasise how important it is to get sponsorship at a grassroots level. It was also great to be part of the creative process, and we are delighted with the outcome and vision for the new brand.”

But, beyond the logo, the real value lies in the bigger picture. The new brand has already begun to change how people perceive the league. It has elevated its professional image, made it more accessible, and, most importantly, has helped amplify its visibility. More girls and women are now aware of the league and the opportunities it offers. As the buzz around the sport grows, we are excited to see how the renewed identity will continue to inspire players, parents, and fans alike.
